Stand Up, Stand Tall

Official Little Black dress.jpg

The things we all hide under the carpet, how much do they hurt others?
Are they costing someone their life and potentials?
I was speaking at a conference last week at the Ministry of foreign affairs (Athens Greece) on Human trafficking, what I heard from some people got me thinking a lot.

We ignore major social problems, just because we all think they aren't our problem to care about.
We feel safe, so we ignore the cry of the unsafe, we speak with numbers and statistics.
We try to cover our backs and then save our lives, not caring if the little piece of information we are withholding is crucial for a fellow human. We hide behind out fingers, we justify our action with religion, family and we find it all too easy to forget thousands of others hurting.
I will not close my eyes to evil, but I cannot take you all with me to the battle.
We all have ourselves to ask , if we are content with our contribution to the world around us.
If we can close our eyes to the evil around us, by not speaking or ignoring the evil we see?
You might close your TV, stop reading newspapers, or watch reality TV and ignore the fact that everyday millions die in their quest for a better life, but that will not stop the madness.
Praying for evacuation of poverty in this world we live in is like asking for a fairytale to come true.
Touch at least one life, speak the truth and educate yourself, so maybe when that day comes, when a 16 years old girl will look at you for help. You will know in you that she is a victim, that the smile on her face is fake and the sorrow in her eyes is real.
My outfit is a classic LBD with a bit of edge.
Wearing: Dress? Hallhuber, Shoes/ 5th Avenue, Tights/ Calzedonia, Ear cuff/ H&M, Lipstick/ KIKO.

  1. I find that a lot of people just talk, but when it comes to actions you can't find them.

Congratulations on your speech at the Ministry of internal affairs at Greece; that was so awesome. Human trafficking is a problem that everyone really needs to pay more attention to. Have an amazing weekend my friend.

  4. You are beautiful inside and outside, I totally agree with you but luckily for everybody who is too selfish to think about the others, there is a bunch of people ready to take care of them...
this is why selfish people will always survive, because there is always someone else who can do their job

  5. Very nice to know you do some really beautiful humanitarian work. You are a tiger girl. Just running and making things happen for you and others. Wonderful. Your LBD is very smart and fits you perfectly. I really do like the lace leggings you have under. Very, very nice!

  6. It's great that you are raising awareness about issues that concern us all even if we don't always want to admit it.
